The Association shall be non-party in politics and non-sectarian
in religion. In keeping with such aims, employing whatever means members
deem expedient, the Association will seek to:
a) bring together in conference , and working liaison with,
representatives of voluntary organisations, government departments, local
and other statutory authorities and individuals;
b) address concerns within the Hillswick and Eshaness area;
c) explores funding from other agencies;
d) explore the possibility of employing and paying any persons
or persons to organise and carry on the work of the Association;
e) actively pursue resources, facilities and support for
the development of the Hillswick and Eshaness area;
f) have the power to do things necessary for the fulfilment
of its objects.
3. HERITABLE PROPERTY
a) The Association shallbe able to purchase, lease or otherwise
acquire any property and any rights and privileges necessary for the promotion
of the said objects and construct, maintain and alter any buildings necessary
for the work of the Group.
b) Make regulations for the management of the property
which may be so acquired.
4. MEMBERSHIP
Membership shall be open to all those who support the aims
of the Association.
The Association at its first Annual General Meeting shall
elect from its membership a Chairperson, a Vice-Chairperson, Secretary,
Treasurer and such other honorary officers as the Association shall from
time to time decide. In addition to the members so elected, the Association
may co-opt members who shall serve until the conclusion of the next Annual
General Meeting. The Association may co-opt representatives from other agencies,
including Shetland Enterprise, the Shetland Islands Council Development
Department, the Area Community Learning and Development Officer, Community
Council representatives and the local Councillors. Co-opted members shall
not be entitled to vote at meetings.
The Association may appoint such special or standing committees
or sub-committees as may be considered appropriate and shall The Association

of reference, powers, duration and composition. All acts and proceedings
of such special or standing committees or sub-committees shall be reported
back to the Association as soon as possible.
